bluevio's LRP page I have posted here a floppy image of my working rp-pppoe over LRP (Materhorn). pppoe-lrp-1743k.bin I hope you will find it useful. IMPORTANT: If you want individual packages from the image, please do not forget to modify filenames on your floppy as following: replace all "_lrp.bin" extensions with ".lrp" extensions. I did this because geocities doesn't allow ".lrp" ending files. Instructions 1. Format floppy: fdformat /dev/fd0u1743 (RedHat) superformat /dev/fd0u1743 (Debian) 2. Make floppy: dd if=path/to/downloaded/file of=/dev/fd0u1743 3. Mount floppy with "mount /dev/fd0u1743 /mnt/floppy" then edit text file "syslinux.cfg" to reflect your box's memory situation. My LRP box has 64M RAM, so I set my ramdisk size to "ramdisk_size=57344".If you have no clue, do "ramdisk_size=4096". 4. Boot floppy on your LRP box. Notes: A. after booting, you will have to add your own kernel modules to /lib/modules, then edit /etc/modules accordingly. B. you will get some error messages at boot regarding portfw. I'm still working on those (If you find the solution, please share it). These errors won't affect pppoe as such. C. I stripped this floppy image of my personal ADSL settings. This means that you will have to wait for the "adsl-start" command executing at start-up to timeout (about 20 seconds). Then: C.1 login as root. C.2 exit from "lrcfg". C.3 do "adsl-setup" and enter your ADSL settings as asked. C.4 do "adsl-start". For some reason, I had to wait for this to timeout, then redo C.3 and C.4 a second time to establish ADSL to my ISP. Now try "ping www.yahoo.com". C.5 if it worked, go back to "lrcfg" and back-up your ram-disk to floppy. C.6 reboot and see if you now get ADSL automatically at boot. C.7 try to debug that "portfw" error message, and share your solution !! Miscellaneous You will find some other packages on the floppy. I have put those on my floppy from the coyote distro, but haven't had time yet to explore further, I don't even know if they work with LRP "out of the box". As far as I'm concerned, you are free to do with any content on this image whatever you want. v.militaru@sympatico.ca
